The not so pretty picture of globalisation

When I was a student, I once had to write a thesis on Globalisation.

It didn’t mention slave labour, cruelty against humanity, governmental and commercial corruption, the sword-wielding hands of the IMF and the World Bank, the raping and exploitation of people’s countries, the capitalistic destruction of indigenous communities, the genocide of people for no good reason other than folklore and the ability to move shit, hide shit and dump shit on others on a global magnitude.

‘Globalisation’ reinforced the illusion that networking with others was a positive thing.
We would all exchange goods and services in a free market, we would all prosper and we would all grow as a well nourished people-focused society.

This ideology was sold to us on a gigantean scale because it was marketable and seductive.
We could all achieve comfort and live well because we were drip-fed ‘pats on the back’ to relieve our social conscience because ‘we were helping others in deprived countries.’

Bullshit.

Our capitalistic greed for material objects has destroyed everything and everyone.

We’ve completely lost focus of what’s important and we’ve trampled on every fucking thing and everyone in our mission to do what we’ve been told is right for the ego.

The only people who prosper are the people at the top of the hierarchy.

The ones who don’t live the lives we lead, the ones who don’t sweat the blood and tears we do and the ones who have no conception of just what our lives are about.

The very same people who exploit your good conscience and shit on it.
